What is Web Designing And Development

If you are looking to design and build a website – whether you are doing it yourself or hiring an agency or developer to do it – you have then heard a term called “Web Development” which comes quite often. Knowing about the terms is fine but understanding them is vital, given you are serious about building your website. We do this during our “Meet” step of process with each customer, educating customer across this helps you build credibility and in-turn helps customer to pat on the back too. Let’s talk about what is Web Development…?
What is Web Development?

Web development is the process of developing Websites or WebPages which are to be hosted on the Internet or Intranet. Think through your favourite website; whether it’s an e-commerce store, blog, social network, online video streaming service, or any other type of Internet application, it all had to be built by a web developer.

But what does that look like? The web development process can be divided into four main components:
  • Server-Side Coding.
  • Client-Side Coding.
  • Database Technology.
  • Web Designing.
Server-Side Coding:
Server-side scripts are executed on the web server whenever a user requests a document or service. The server then produces the document, usually in the form of HTML, which can be read by the client’s browser.
The document sent to the browser may often contain client-side scripts. ASP.NET, PHP, Java, ColdFusion, Perl, Python, and Ruby are examples of languages used for server-side coding.
Client-Side Coding:
When you are viewing or using a website, you are known as ‘user’ or a ‘client.’ So web applications or computer programs executed by a user’s web browser are referred to as client-side scripts. That means the program requests any files it needs to run from the web server, and then runs within the client’s web browser.

This allows a Webpage to have unique content depending on user’s input or other variables. Ajax, Flash, JavaScript, jQuery, Microsoft Silverlight, HTML5, and CSS3 are some examples of popular languages, plugins and libraries used in client-side scripting.

Database Technology:
For any website to function on the Internet, it must be hosted within a database on a webserver. The database contains all the files required for a website and its applications to function. Websites typically use some form of a RDBMS; the leading RDBMS options are Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Apache, and IBM. Open-source RDBMS are also very popular, led by MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.

Web Designing:
Web design is a similar process of creation, with the intention of presenting the content on electronic web pages, which the end-users can access through the internet with the help of a web browser. Web design encompasses many different skills and disciplines in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design, interface design, authoring, including standardised code and proprietary software, user experience design and Search Engine Optimization.

And that’s it! You now have a solid understanding of the basics of web development.

                                                                                                Jamia Masjid is a mosque located at Bijapur in Karnataka. This great mosque was built in the year 1578 by Ali Adil Shah. It is also the first and the largest constructed mosque in Bijapur. The mosque is well admired by the tourists for its magnificent architecture and art works. This massive monument covers an area of over 10,000 square meters and has enough room for 2250 devotees. The Central Mihrab on the western wall is inscribed with lines from the Holy Koran. This inscription was completed in 1676by Malik Yakut, under the orders from Muhammad Adil Shah. It houses a golden written copy of the Holy Koran. Its marvelous architecture includes a huge hall having 45 compartments, large domes shaped like onions, a huge inner courtyard with a large reservoir and fountains.

Upli Burj, Bijapur

Upli Burj constructed in 1584, is an another interesting site in Bijapur (State: Karnataka). General Hyder Khan in the service of ruler Ibrahim II built this watch tower.

This is a circular tower measuring 80 ft in height. There are 70 steps leading to the top of the tower where there are 2 canons. This tower is also known as Hyder Burj.

                                    Bara Kaman

Bara Kaman is the unfinished mausoleum of Ali Adil Shah II in Bijapur, Karnataka in India.
Ali Adil Shah of the Adil Shahi dynasty wanted to build a mausoleum of unmatched quality of architecture. As per the plan twelve arches will be placed vertically as well as horizontally surrounding the tomb of Ali Adil Shah. However due to unknown reason the work on the structure was left incomplete and only two arches were raised vertically. However still, the remains of the twelve arches placed horizontally can be seen. The site is managed by the Archeological Survey of India. It is said that the shadow of this structure would touch the Gol Gombaz Gol Gumbaz. So, It was stopped.


Bijapur (Kannada: ವಿಜಾಪುರ Vijapura )Urdu:بیجاپور city is the district headquarters of Bijapur District of Karnataka state. Bijapur city is well known for its historical monuments of architectural importance built during the rule of Adil Shahi dynasty. Bijapur is located 530 km northwest of Bangalore and about 550 km fromMumbai.and 384 km from Hyderabad.
Bijapur's urban population as per 2011 census is 3.26 lakhs.So, efforts are being made to upgrade the CMC into a Municipal Corporation(like the current corporationsHubli-Dharwad, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Bellary, Davangere, Tumkur, Mangalore, Mysore, Bangalore along with Shimoga which would help in getting more funds for the development of city. As per norms, the city should have a minimum population of three lakh for a Municipal Corporation to be formed per KMC act.
The city was established in the 10th-11th centuries by the Kalyani Chalukyas and was known as Vijayapura (City of victory). The city came under the influence of theKhilji Sultanate in Delhi by the late 13th century. In 1347, the area was conquered by the Bahmani Sultanate of Gulbarga. By this time, the city was being referred as Vijapur or Bijapur. Bijapur, Karnataka

Bara Kaman - Bijapur


Bara Kaman is the unfinished mausoleum of Ali Adil Shah. He lost his life in a conspiracy and the monument remained unfinished. "Bara Kaman" translates to "12 arches".

We hired a "guide"... (he wasn't really a guide... we just paid 20Rs to the security guard who agreed to tell us the history of the monument) and he told us a fascinating fable :). There is no evidence on the internet and if it really is "history" and not a fable :) then I guess the entire credit should go to the security guard.

According to the guard, "Ali Adil Shah was murdered by his father Ibrahim Adil Shah to prevent him from constructing Bara kaman. Ibrahim Adil Shah feared that Bara kaman would lessen the popularity of "Gol Gumbaz" that he had constructed and so had his son murdered. Bara Kaman has the tombs of Ali Adil Shah, his wife Chand Bibi, mistress and his daughters."

History records, Ali Adil Shah had only one son and a daughter. Though there is record of other Adil Shahi sultans having a mistress, there is no known record of Ali Adil Shah having one.

The guard then unravelled the mystery of the construction of "Bara Kaman". He explained to us that, "The architect Malik Sandal, initally raised solid walls in the form of concentric arches and once the entire wall was erected, the inner arches were topelled off and only the outermost arch was left intact. Also iron rings were used to hold the stones in place. They weren't cemented together. He pointed to one of the walls (visible to the right in the photo above) and told us that all the walls probably looked like that particular one before the stones were knocked off."

Malik Sandal was the architect of Gol Gumbaz but there is no historic record of him designing the Bara Kaman.

Probably none of what he said was true. But we heard one good fable for 20Rs that we will all probably remember for the rest of our lives.
